Angostura Pass Road to Gibraltar Reservoir

Santa Ynez Outdoors
Floating high above the valley like a ribbon in the wind, Camino Cielo Road runs along the ridge of the Santa Ynez Mountains for miles crossing from east to west. Among the many destinations accessible from this road is Angostura Pass Road, which drops down seven gorgeous miles to the Gibraltar Reservoir and the edge of the Santa Ynez backcountry. The immaculately groomed road to the reservoir is one of the best-maintained routes in the valley. The reservoir, located at the eastern edge of the valley, appears as an oasis amid the dry chaparral surrounding the lake. The idea of this oasis is one that can easily get stuck in your mind when the hot months of summer arrive in the valley and you begin considering the options available for places to explore.
