Hollister Trail Loop

Santa Ynez Outdoors

This is one of the more accessible yet low-traffic routes in the region. This is a great loop if you're pressed for time and don't have all day for an excursion, but want to get some exercise and fresh air in a beautiful natural environment. The entire loop is roughly four miles, which can be easily completed in less than an hour on a mountain bike, or a couple of hours hiking. Along the way visitors are treated to gorgeous views of the Gaviota Coast, and in the spring and early summer have the opportunity to see expansive patches of wildflower blooms. The loop ride has a great combination of double-track fire road and single-track trail, which makes it very enjoyable on a bike. The route also has a nice blend of open meadows, some steep climbing to get your heart rate up, and an enjoyable descent through a shady oak forest. Hikers will thoroughly enjoy the expansive views from the ridge and exploring the canyon during the hike down.
