Gaviota Hot Springs

Santa Ynez Outdoors

Located just off Highway 101 south of Buellton, the Gaviota Hot Springs is one of the most accessible outdoor destinations in the region. After a short hike of roughly three quarters of a mile, you'll find yourself surrounded by mountains, expansive meadows, and the natural hot spring pools set amid a leafy grove of trees. Hot spring regulars will feel right at home in the pools that provide two soaking options. The upper pool is smaller, warmer, clearer and sandy bottomed, while the lower pool is larger, somewhat opaque from the natural mineral content of the water, and a little cooler as it's fed from the overflow of the upper pool. The springs are located inside Gaviota State Park. The park is open from 8 a.m. to sunset.
