Little Pine Mountain via Buckhorn Road

Synopsis » Go Back

Santa Ynez Outdoors
Visitors to Little Pine Mountain, located within the Paradise Road area of Los Padres National Forest, will find vast wilderness, a multitude of hiking trails, a variety of plants and wildlife, spectacular views, and some of the best single-track in the region. Soaring to an elevation of 4,459 feet, Little Pine rests quietly above the Santa Ynez River Valley. For mountain bikers, Little Pine is a veritable Mecca worthy of at least one annual visit, but be prepared for a demanding 3400 vertical feet of climbing. Done on a bike, the round trip takes a minimum of two and a half hours for the most experienced riders. For hikers, a trip to the top and back via the Santa Cruz Trail would be an ambitious undertaking for one day, requiring a minimum of eight hours. Less ambitious visitors will be pleased walking the trail adjacent to the riverbed, or making the four-mile round trip to Nineteen Oaks Camp.
